Registration Frequently Asked Questions about the Yawkey League

How many games does each team play? We play a 32 game schedule on fields in and around Boston. When does the season start and end? Our season runs during the months of May, June and July. Eight of our teams make the Play Offs and play a Championship Playoff Tournament in August. What times are the games usually played? Most of our games are played under the lights on week-days beginning at 7:30PM or 8:00PM. We also play some afternoon games on Saturday & Sunday. Do you play with wood or aluminum bats? The YBL plays baseball with wood bats, the way baseball was intended to be played. Does the YBL have their own umpires? The YBL employes the South Shore Umpires Association (SSUA)to umpire all games. During the regular season, 2 umpires are scheduled for each game. In the playoffs, we add additional umpires to help out.
