White Sox 1 4 0 6 0 0 0 11 15 1
Mariners 1 0 1 1 0 0 0 3 7 1

Once again, the White Sox bats did the job in a game 2 to complete the sweep as each Sox starter had at least 1 hit. With the win the Sox clinch the Atlantic Conference and head back to MABL Finals to defend their title.

Will Bissonette (2 for 2, 3B, 3R, 2RBI) got things going for the Sox with a triple in the 1st. Jason Hoye (2 for 4, 2RBI) then quickly drove him home to put the Sox up 1. After the LaPointe and Limoges doubles tied things up in the bottom of the 1st, the Sox struck right back for 4 runs keyed agains by Biss and Hoye RBIs. Then, the Sox exploded for 6 in the 4th to put things away. The big inning was led off by a Villalobos double and the big hit was a 2 RBI triple of the bat of Dave Martin who picked up the win on the mound.

The relief was solid for both teams as Minns and LoPresti combined for 3 shutout innings for the Sox. Taylor for the Mariners yielded only 1ER over the last 3 and a third.

Biss and Felix were a comined 4 for 4 with a triple, double, 2RBI, 3BB and 5 runs scored

In the first, the Sox got on top quick with a 4 run inning sparked by a Bissonette double and then singles by Martin, Spoth and Carroll. After the Mariners took advantage of some Sox fielding miscues to cut the lead to 5-3, the Sox rallied for 3 in the 5th to put the game away.

Mariners 7, Cutters 6

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E
Mariners 0 0 0 0 1 0 6 7 11 4
Cutters 0 3 0 0 0 3 0 6 12 0

With 2 outs and 1 on in the top of the 7th, trailing the Cutters 6-1, it looked like time was about to run out on this Cinderella. But then the unthinkable happened. With their backs against the wall, the M's strung together 7 straight hits to wrestle the lead away from the Cutters, 7-6. All that remained was to stop the potent Cutters offense in the bottom half.

EJ Freni entered the 7th looking for his second consecutive postseason complete game. The first hitter, Ned Coffee, reached by error, advancing to second on the overthrow. Freni then got the next two hitters out, leaving it up to Greg Crossman. Crossman ripped a laser that was snagged by M's first baseman Justin Brinkmeyer for the game's final out.

The game was a fitting end to a hard fought series. The Cutters played hard all series, competing with tremendous class. As for the Mariners, this Cinderella is planning to stay and dance a little longer.

EJ pitches the M's into the conference finals, Sal drives in the tying and go-ahead runs; Kilduff was brilliant through 6.

The Mariners turned to Josh Abreu with their backs against the wall, an infielder who had never thrown a pitch in his BMBL career. Abreu went the distance, picking up the win and allowing only 4 hits to the league's top offense. The Cutters' Matthew Chasse was equally brilliant, surrending a first inning run then shutting out the M's the rest of the way.

The M's Frank Rich, who led off the first inning with a double, scored the game's only run on an RBI single by Jeff Rausch.

Abreu dazzles and Rausch stays hot with the bat; Chasse suffers tough luck loss.

Mariners 0 1 0 6 2 0 x 9 12 6

In the continuation of the previously suspended Wild Card game between the Rangers and Mariners, the M's were able to nail down their first playoff victory in franchise history. It was a complete team effort, as 9 different Mariner hitters collected at least 1 hit.

Of note, EJ Freni provided an incredibly gutsy performance on the mound, pitching the first 4 innings on Tuesday then coming back to finish the final 3 innings two days later. Offensively, Henri Valois (3-4) and Rocco Rauseo (2-4) had multi-hit games, while Ed Bourget, Jeff Rausch, and EJ Freni each collected 2 RBI apiece.

For the Rangers, Coley O'Donnell had two hits including a bomb to right field that showed his league-leading HR total was no accident. The triple plated 2 runs and nearly ignited a 7th inning comeback.

Congratulations to the Rangers for all their successes this year.

EJ picks up first postseason W for an M's pitcher, while Rauseo sparks the offense; O'Donnell launches a bomb.

For the Grays, Kellen Reed reached base twice (single, walk) and Stephen Maycock drove in 1 of the 2 Grays runs.

ok...so...stros take 11-1 lead after three...game over right? yeah not so much. M's plate 700 runs in the fourth and take 12-11 lead. i'm serious...then the stros get one in the sixth and its tied at 12 late when this guy from Haverhill shows up saying he is sorry but has to turn off the lights. Well both teams are like "F that"
Mariners: "We didn't come back from down 11-1 to tie."
Astros: "A tie is like a loss see 'cuz we sorta need to win out to make the playoffs."
Haverhill guy: "OK, but this will be the last inning no matter what because its a city ordinance you can't start an inning after 10."
Whew. So then the M's leave 'em loaded in the top half thanks to some sharp play by the stros D (rest of league: "the stros can play defense?") and then the stros won it in the bottom half on a wp/pb with two out and a 2-2 count on the hitter. 13-12 I think it was. yeah 13-12.

The Marlins busted out of the gates with 5 runs in the 1st inning thanks to an RBI double by Paul Bracco, and RBI singles from Karl Cyr (2-4, 2 RBI, 1 R, SB) and Ricky Barbato.

The Marlins quickly had two baserunners on in the 2nd after Kevin Brennan singled and Bracco was hit by a pitch. It was another tight game between the former Mariners and the current edition. This time, the M's jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and had to hold on for the duration of the game. Kevin Ludwig, the second former Mariner to start against his 2005 teammates, shut down the M's offense for the remainder of the game. But the Mariners got another great outing from one of their pitchers, this time from Brian Thorndike who picked up his first win since 2001.

Thorndike was supported offensively by Chris Corde (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Matt Dumont (1 hit, 1 RBI). Brendan Powers of the Hurricanes, not to be confused with the former Mariners skipper bearing a similar name, went 3-4 with 2 RBI.

Thorndike picks up first win since '01, getting support from Corde and Dumont.

In a matchup of the Mariners of yesteryear versus the latest installment, the new guard was able to go up early and hang on for a 3-1 victory. As has been the case for most of the season, pitching led the way. Ryan Dearborn, coming off a shutout victory over the White Sox, brought his A game once again in surrendering only one run (unearned) to the 'Canes. This victory was much more difficult, as the bases were loaded with Hurricanes with one out in the top of the seventh. Dearborn ended the threat by getting Kevin Ludwig to ground into a game-ending double play.

Offensively, Jay LaPointe went 3-3, Matt Dumont went 2-3 with 1 RBI, and Steve Limoges knocked in a pair. For the Hurricanes, Nick Markos had 2 hits and Alan Donaruma pitched a solid game against his former teammates.

LaPointe, Dumont, and Limoges provide the offensive support for Dearborn.

Tigers 0 0 0 1 0 1 2 4 7 3
Mariners 1 0 0 0 0 4 x 5 4 2

The Tigers' Brian Houlding, an established BMBL pitcher and former anchor of the Defending Champion White Sox' pitching staff, went toe to toe with M's rookie pitcher Jarlin Gomez. Both pitchers made a habit of striking out opposing batters, with Houlding picking up 10 K's and Gomez striking out 14. With Tigers leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the M's pushed across 4 runs against Houlding. The Tigers countered with 2 runs in the top of the seventh before Gomez ended the comeback bid.

With the M's bats in something of a coma for most of the day, Chris Corde brought the Mariners back to life with a bases-clearing triple. Matt Dumont knocked Corde in with a sacrifice fly for what would be the winning run.

Gomez (CG win, 4 ER, 14 K's) and Corde (triple, 3 RBI) starred for the M's. For the Tigers, Houlding matched Gomez the entire way and was supported by Nate Pane (2 hits, 3 runs, 1 RBI) and Jim Belcastro (2 hits, 2 RBI).

There are moments in our nation's history when you can remember exactly what you were doing at the time that you heard the news. This game will not go down as one of those moments. With some sloppy defense on both sides, the M's and O's managed to play an intense game that wasn't settled until the last inning.

With the M's Jarlin Gomez and the O's Kevin Bell locked in a pitchers duel, the score remained knotted at 3-3 going into the top of the 7th. The M's loaded the bases against Bell yet only came away with one run, a sacrifice fly off the bat of catcher Steve Limoges. In the last half of the 7th, clinging to a 1-run lead, Gomez retired the side in order to preserve his first career BMBL win.

Gomez picks up first career BMBL win, while Limoges knocks in the GWRBI; Bell (0-3) pitches well in defeat.

The Marlins kicked off the 2006 campaign with a 7-1 victory over the Mariners thanks to the usual contributions from ace Neil Doherty and slugger Davin Wilfrid. The Chancellor cruised through four innings, walking none and striking out three while allowing only an unearned run. The Fish staked him to an early lead when Al Becker singled with two outs, Wilfrid followed with a triple to deep left, and Paul Bracco singled to bring home Wilfrid. The Fish made it comfortable when a Karl Cyr double, Becker sacrifice fly, and Wilfrid's second triple helped post a crooked number in the second. Anthony Leonelli and Kevin Brennan finished the job with three innings of shutout relief.
