The Braves even up their record with some solid defense and timely hitting in a 4-3 victory over the Black Sox at Rogers. Braves 3rd baseman Jeff Cashman made an impressive bare hand stab on a slow roller to steal an infield hit away from Gil in the 5th. He also made a leaping grab on a hard liner off the bat of Shah in the 6th, preventing a likely double down the line. With the tying run on 3rd in the 7th, Greeley and Schools were able to turn the 1-6-3 double play to end the game. Cashman and Uberti were both 2-4 at the dish for the Braves

Sam Kennedy-Smith pitched well for the Sox but didn't factor into the decision. Brown, Gil and Sementelli had the hits for the Black Sox.

The Big Apple Circus broke down the Big Top on City Hall Plaza and moved into McConnell Park for a one night stand. The Brighton Braves (winners of their last 12 regular season games in 2011) came out with all guns blazing. They scored 10 runs in three innings due mostly to walks and errors by the Beacons. Sam "The MAN" Shaughnessy (3-4 4RBI) blasted a mamouth 3 run HR to take advantage.

The Beacons recovered from a 10-4 deficit and won!

Drew Tambling saved the day for the Beacons. He smashed 2-HR's of his own (3-4 2R & 4RBI). Both were moon shots. His 2nd blast destroyed a motor vehicle parked outside the RF fence about 400ft away from HP. Ryan Carrier came on strong with 3 hits in 4 trips. Chris Deane, Kyle McKay and Matt Samelia also chipped in with 2 hit nights. Welcome aboard Pat Lynch (2-3 & 3RBI) had the game winning hit before the light time limit ended the game.

Watch out for the Braves in 2012 boys!

Sully, Foundas, and Tanguy combine for 11 k's and 4 hits in the season opener for Somerville.

Somerville was lead offensively by Dziuba (3-3 3 runs), DesRoches (3-4 2 runs) and the guys that knocked them in Barrett (3-3 3RBI) and Babb (2-3 2RBI).

Other big hits in the game were by Mendonca with a two out RBI and the new 2 hitter (and player that has taken over at 2B from the guy that is writing this) Addesa hit his first home run as an Alibrandi.

Somerville would like to welcome Barrett, Addesa and Tanguy as they all took the field for the first time in an Alibrandi uniform.
