Shepard pitches Malden to game five

MALDEN, MA - In what might have been the best playoff game this post-season, Malden forced a decisive game five with a 2-1 win over Revere tonight at Maplewood Park.

Righthander Jon Shepard went the distance for the Bulldogs as he limited the Rockies offense to just three hits while striking out six and surrendering one unearned run.

Malden shortstop Mike Oliveira got the game winning RBI on his Sacrifice Fly in the sixth.

Luis Rodriguez had two of Revere's three hits.

Rockies get on the board in the 1st with 2 outs, Chris Hartery reached base on an error and Tony Iafolla drives him in with a triple to left.

In the 3rd with 2 outs, Bucciarelli singled up the middle. Hartery followed with a double to right center to score Bucciarelli and Iafolla knocks in Hartery for his 2nd rbi of the game to put the Rockies up 3-0 after 3. That is all Rich Wlodarczyk would need as he picks up the complete game win, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.

Revere, MA - The Malden Bulldogs used a 3 run third inning as they evened the series with a 4-1 over Revere.

Mike Cook earned the win on the mound as he pitched 4 innings allowing just one run before giving way to a dominated Malden bullpen. The trio of Tim Stronach, Jeff Allison and Jon Shepard held the Rockies to just one hit over the final three frames.

Chris Sandini pitched a complete game for Revere.

Game three will take place tomorrow night at "The 'Wood" beginning at 8pm.

The Astros traveled to Revere with only 10 players, but all 10 left it all out on the field and escaped with the 11th victory of the season.

Offensively, the Astros got timely hitting from leadoff man Delvis Baez (2-3, 2B, 3B, 2RBI), Stevie Melo (1-4, 1RBI), and cleanup hitter Francis Reyes (1-3, 2B, 2RBI).

On the mound Brad Presler battled through 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 9 hits, but that was enough for his team leading 5th win. Izzy Velez picked up his league leading 6th save with a 1-2-3 7th inning, striking out the final 2 batters.

The Knights and Rockies faced off for the final time in this regular season. The Knights sent Felipe Barahona to the mound to face off against Rich Wlodarczyk.

The Knights struck quickly scoring 2 in the 1st and 6 in the 2nd to take an 8-0 lead. The Rockies chipped away but never really threatened that lead until the 7th. Down 9-3 the Rockies scored 3 runs to cut it to 9-6 and had the tying run at the plate with no out that's when Steve Hueston induced Rockies CF Chris Santosuosso into a double play. Hueston then allowed the next 2 batters to reach to again put the tying run at the plate but then struck out Ned Coffee to end the game.

Justin Wojcik earned the win pitching the 4th and now is 2-0. Offense was the story of the game for the Knights. Ace DiNapoli, Ben McBride and Kenny Polanco all had triples for the Knights. The Knights hit the ball hard all night and put them 1 win away from clinching the Yaz division title.

After giving up 2 runs in the 1st inning, Astros ace Brad Presler settled in and pitched 5 scoreless innings to pick up his 3rd W of the season. Izzy Velez picked up his league leading 4th save pitching a shaky but scoreless 7th inning.

The turning point for the Astros came in the bottom of the 6th inning. Omar Ortiz led off with a double. Francis Reyes drove in Ortiz with a single to center, tying the game at 2. Roger Peguero followed with a tremendous HR into the tennis courts in right field!

Rob MacDonald picks up his second win of the season as the Sabers defeat the Rockies 8-3

MacDonald pitched 5.2 solid innings. Only letting up 1 earned run on 7 scattered hits, striking out 2 batters

Matt Pitts was able to come in and get Stoneham out of a jam to pick up his first save of the season

Down early, Colucci had a RBI single to score Mike Robinson from second to tie the game. In the 2nd Sean McCarthy led of with a single. Ben Burkholder would play small ball which led to a Ryan Flanagan RBI single

After the Rockie took the lead again in the top half of the 3rd the Sabers exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Colucci and Adams led off with hits to start the inning. Jake Zelnick, Josh king, and Burkholder would all drive in a run. Robinson would have 2 of his own RBIS

In the 7th McCarthy added an insurance RBI

Flanagan, Colucci, Adams, and McCarthy had 2 hits

A great pitchers duel at Chelsea High. Foundas and Del Rio both battled for 9in, each coming up huge for their team escaping several jams to keep the score knotted at 0 thru 9.

Rookie Bradley Applin would relieve Del Rio in the 10th. W/ 1 out Maguire worked a walk and proceeded to steal 2nd and 3rd. Applin would buckle down and strike out Addesa and Dzuiba to end the inning.

Marc DesRoches came in the 10th for Somerville. Bucciarelli would lead off with a single followed by Moran who struck out. 2 pass balls later and Bucciarelli on 3rd, Rodriguez is intentionally walked to set the stage for Nate Laliberte who lined a single to center for the walk off win.

The Beacons advanced and defeated the Revere Rockies at Chelsea HS by a score of 8-4. Brian Mylett was called upon once again by the Beacons. Brian is having control problems right now. He only lasted 2.2 innings after walking 6, hitting a batter and allowing 3 runs (2 earned) in that span. John Nee was called upon in relief and shut the door to the Rockies.

Neezo tossed 4.1 innings; allowed 1 unearned run on 4 hits. Neezo’s record is 1-1. His only other pitching assignment was in the fog at East Boston Stadium a month a go. This was a huge pick me up for the beacons, by Nee!

McKay Club batters: Drew Tambling (3-4; triple & 2 singles: 2 runs scored and 1 RBI); Kyle McKay (3-4; 3 singles; 2 stolen bases; scored 3 times & had 2 RBI); Rob Lerro (3-4); 3 singles, a stolen base an RBI and a runs scored) and Captain Jack Owens (2-3; 3 RBI and a big sac bunt to produce a run in the 4th) led the 13 hit attack.

After a 9 day layoff due to 4 rain outs the East Boston Knights took the field vs the Revere Rockies. Chucking the rock for the Knights was the birthday boy himself Sean Hannon and he did not disappoint. He kept the Rockies off balance all game pitching into the 7th inning. The Rockies scored an unearned run in the 4th and the way Wlodarczyk was pitching for the home town team that looked to be enough. The Knights responded in the 6th scrapping together 4 runs to take a 4 - 1 lead and adding an all important insurance run in the 7th. Geoff Harris led the way for the Knights with 2 big hits including 3 RBI. The other birthday boy Wilson Mercado also had a 2 out single that drove in a run of his own. The Rockies got to Hannon in the 7th and threatened to tie the game with the tying run stranded at 2nd base. Branden Eaton nailed the door shut striking out pinch hitter Del Rio to earn the save and preserve the win for the Knights

The Braves steal one away from the Rockies with four unearned runs. Down to their last out in the 7th, the Braves get 2 men on with a hit and a walk and plate 3 runs after two miscues by the Rockies defense. Billy Uberti gets his first YBL win allowing an ER in 6 innings.

Sandini (0 ER, 13 K, BB) pitched great for the Rockies despite being stuck with the loss. Hartery led the Rockies offense going 2-3, R, SB while Del Rio contributed 2 RBI.

Braves make it 3 in a row and 5 of the last 6. Another big stint against the Rockies again on Monday.

Brian Mylette (19 year old) from Dorchester returned from his D3 Championship journey to help out the McKay Club. The beacons survived the tough loss of Tom Fitzpatrick to a collegiate league and defeated a very well-constructed Revere Rockies club 8-7. It was drew Tambling who got the win of all people. Drew came in to end a 3 run rally with two on and two out in the 6th. He K's Power hitting Adam DelRio to end that madness.

The game went back and forth all night. Tony Iafolla smashed a sky rocket to right for a triple and scored on an over throw relay to take the lead in the 2nd. His catching rival Kyle McKay belted a 410ft bomb to left to lead off the bottom of the stanza for a triple. He promptly scored on a Jack Owens single. The Beacons took the lead when Ryan Carrier walked. Dylan Perez hit a perfect Sac bunt to move the runners along. Matt Samela plated Owens with SAC fly to left.

Brandon Wells (1H, 7K, 2BB) throws a complete game 1 hitter, only allowing a double to Rodriguez in the top of the 4th to get the Forest Hills Force their first win of the season.
Ramon Marte scored the only run for the Force in the bottom of the first with a solo HR.
Defensively sound pitchers' duel all around with Wells for Forest Hills and a combined 3-hitter by McCarthy/Levett/and Sandini for the Rockies.
