The Metro Red Sox won the 40+ Masters Division Championship two games to one over the Duxbury Blue Jays. Glenn Watson earned the win scattering 7 hits and giving up one earned run as the Sox won the third and deciding game, 7-4. Paul Rousseau hit a 2-run triple and Bill Carlezon stroked a 2-run double to lead the Sox. Brian Cassidy pitched well on 3-days rest for Duxbury who made it to the finals for the sixth straight year. Dominic Sestito and Gregg Phieffer had 2 hits a piece. |

Jays pound out 17 hits and tie the series at 1-1.
Mike Connelly goes the distance and comes up with the big win to save the Jays from elimination.
Leading the offense was Greg Phieffer who went 4-4 with a triple and 1 rbi. Mike Connelly 3-3 with 2 doubles. Les Webber 3-4 with 1 rbi. Mike Williams and Brian Cassidy each had 2 hits with 2 rbi.

Sox win Game 1 of Final series. Dave Garofano settled in after the first and the Sox defense put out each rally the Blue Jays started. Bill Carlezon was 2-3, starting both big innings for the Sox. Garofano was 2-3 and 3 rbis, Mark Moise 2-3, and Paul Rousseau was 3-3.

Metro Red Sox 9, Acton Orioles 1
In another great game between the Sox and Orioles, Mike Whatley and Charlie Tinschert battled to a 1-1 tie through 7 innings. Then, in the top of the 9th, the Sox erupted for 8 runs with two outs, highlighted by a bases clearing triple by Scott Ellis at foggy Acton/Boxborough High School.
Bill Rhodes led the Orioles with 2 hits but the Sox prevailed in this exciting, well played series. |

For the second time this month, the Red Sox beat the Orioles 1-0. Dave Garofano and Vic Otero matched each other pitch for pitch (again) until the Sox finally scored on a Pete Niccolo single, a stolen base, and a single by Ed Barry that skipped by the outfielder to allow the only run to score. |
