For the Knights, Darren Flutie went 3 for 5 with a clutch single scoring 2 RBSs in the 7th inning with bases loaded and 2 outs. Steve Ryan had a double in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. Scituate almost pulled it out in the 9th with hits from O'Brien and Cassidy. The game ended on a double-play by the Knights.

The Tides, despite missing their emotional leader, oldest player, normal second baseman, and best left handed hitter were able to pull out a big win in game one. The game was highlighted by OB's first home run since T-Ball, Monti's gutsy performance on the mound, Miggy (3 hits), Papi (3 hits), Tony and Stoney (2 hits apiece), and yet another broken bat by Stoney. Blaine was the tough luck loser and Brothers the hitting star for Natick. The favorite moment though was the 7th inning flyover by the Stealth Bomber, Flutie really can pull some strings, even though Phil thought it was a kite.

Tides score a big victory versus Medford, their first in three years. Brian "Artificial Hip" Cassidy takes the win going five strong in relief. Cass was only able to throw change ups and knuckle balls as his new fake hip prevented any velocity, but as usual he was nasty and tough as nails. Everyone in the Tides lineup had at least one hit, but the thrill of the evening was at Kelley's Roast Beef, when Stoney nearly killed some kid named Junior after his Roast Beef sandwich took 20 minutes to arrive. We also met a lovely little dancer from the Cabaret who promptly ran to her car when we tried to talk to her.

Timely hitting and excellent work by the I-Man out of jams, were the highlight in the game two win for the Tides. Miggy had the big bomb in the second, which set off a five run rally. Miggy may deserve the move to the cleanup spot, but I did pay for the team and he has continually mentioned that my wife thinks he is handsome. Keep hitting bombs buddy, and enjoy that five spot. This just in, Greg Forte wants to be a lesbian golfer, I can fill you in on the rest if you are interested. Good hitting by Bo, Kujo and Langston.

In the long awaited matchup of last year's finalists, the Tides jumped out early and never looked back. Monti goes six strong, giving up only three hits, with Cass pulling down the hold, even with his new artificial hip. The hitting stars for the Tides were Stoney (bomb in the first), Pithie on base all day despite repeated references to Earl, Igo and Miggy. Congrats to Tommy Manning who has entered the world of fatherhood. We missed you and that fat kid that used to play first for you last year.

Gilligan's managerial career ended at 2-0 when the Tides pounded out 16 hits in game two and survived a slug fest. The Tides scored 10 runs in a second inning explosion which prompted cries from the bench "Pithie who?" Brockton hit the ball hard all day long, especially in the second inning when they scored all six of their runs and had 6 hits in that frame alone.

In the managerial debut of Dan "Gilligan" Obrien, the Tides built an early lead behind the strong pitching of Dave "The Professor" Iava and the timely hitting of Tony Anderlionis (2 hits), H-gate (2 hits), Stoney (4 Rbis) and Monti (2 hits). Chris "Mr. Howell" Igo hit a big first inning triple and hit the ball hard all day long. On a related note, Ginger and Marianne were nowhere to be found.

The Tides and Thunder kissed their sister in Game 2. The Tides, trailing by seven going into the final frame, scored seven, the last four with two out. Tommy "The Mayor" Keefe drove in the final two that knotted the score at 9. We would have continued playing but were kicked off the field by a some AAU teams (Do I smell protest?). Anderlionis (3 hits), OB, Cass, Gainey, Keefe , (2 hits apiece), were the hitting stars, with Cass earning the tie on the HIll. The Thunder had numerous hits, but unfortunately we kept a terrible book, so I will just give them all big props because they hit the ball all over the place.

In the first of what would be two extra inning games, the Tides paced themselves not wanting to get too winded on this hot day, and scored one in the sixth to tie it and four in the top of the eighth to win it. It was also the first time in the history of the Tides that we hit three triples in a game, with Stoney, Igo and Keefa all get their first three baggers of the year. Chris "Peter Dorn" Igo had the break out day at the plate with three hits, while Cass and OB chipped in with two hits a piece. Thompson was the tough luck loser for the Thunder.

Red Sox score 3 in the top of the 10th inning to win 7-4. Dowey goes 9 for his 4th win. Levensaler pitches the 10th for his 2nd save. Bobby Lebrun with the game winning 2 run single in the 10th. Scituate's Stone with a 3 run bomb in the sixth off Dowey.

Game Two meant more heat, a little sloppier baseball and another Tides win. Iava and Big Jim Trevena earned the win and save respectively. Jason "El Guapo" Pithie had two hits, two runs, two runs batted in and sweated through two t-shirts in seven innings. Miggy and Iggy also chipped in with two runs batted in a piece. Special thanks to Doug Flutie who very graciously signed all autograph requests and posed for dozens of photos. We should all thank Doug for playing in this league he definately has given all of us a chance to play with a legend. On a related note, OB tried to follow Doug into the porta potty and luckily I was able to stop him before he embarassed himself.

It was free Scituate Tides autograph day on a sweltering sunday in Scituate. I signed two autographs (both checks to the umps) and Doug Flutie signed about 50 autographs. I guess he is more famous and sought after than the Tides. Rob Monti was a stud again on the hill, going the distance striking out seven and ginving up four hits. Tony Anderlonis drove in the lone run with two outs in the third, driving home Brian Cassidy. Blaine was the tough luck loser for Natick, as he was filthy all game long. Doug (he told me to call him that) was the hitting star for the Knights with two hits and a walk.
