Offensively, the Yankees were led by an ageless Frank Kowalski, who put on a baserunning clinic to go with his contributions at the plate (2-3, BB, 3R, 2SB). Colin Levesque also chipped in w. a 2-4 effort.

Royals starter Martin Minns kept the Yankees off balance most of the night, only allowing 3ER in a complete game effort.

AJ 'Gollum/Booch/Schmeagol/Timay/Sean Magee Lover' Bucciarelli offset his 0-4 at the plate with some outstanding base coaching.

With his parents in attendance, Eric Harvey pitched 5.1 innings, not allowing a hit until the sixth for his 9th win of the season. That is also a new season record for wins by an Astros pitcher. Harv struck out 12 including the side in order twice.
Ron Viola kick-started the offense with a 2-run bomb to left on a hanger from Royals starter Martin Minns. The 'stros got two more in the inning and two more in the next to make it 6-0.
Mike Power tripled to center in the sixth and later scored the Royals first run. Josh Vernon came on in the sixth and did not allow an earned run, pitching effectively through the final 1.2 innings. The game ended on...well, Tim Clark snagged a hot grounder down the line at third and falling backwards into foul territory, threw side-arm to first in the air for the out. Really quite filthy.

The Royals struck in the first as Felix Villalobos (1 for 3, R, SB) singled and stole 2nd and then was plated on a deep Greg Kosc double (1 for 3, 2B, RBI). That run held up until the 5th when Greenlaw walked and on some heads-up base running moved up to third on a sacrifice bunt. With 2 outs, Mike Davis (1 for 3, RBI, SB, K) blooped a single to center to tie up the score.

In the top of the 6th, Clark got two quick outs before hitting Matt O'Hara (0 for 1, R, SB, HBP), and giving up a single to TJ Unger (1 for 3, SB). On a pickoff attempt, O'Hara stole 3rd, and on the next pitch scored the winning run when TJ stole second and the ball sailed into the OF.
