Holmwood Gray Sox 9, Duxbury Twins 8
Facing elimination and down 8-4 in 7th, Gray Sox stage a furious comeback and score 5 runs to win 9-8. Dave Tomkins grounded a single to left to score the winning run with 2 outs. Sox hitters were patient all night as they walked 12 times. Big hits in 7th by Mahoney, Verecker, Twomey, and Locke. For Duxbury, Earlz was pitching on 2 days rest and had the heater working as he battled all night. Tony Catalano kept it within reach as he came in to relieve Kevin Moore in the 2nd, who was pitching well before leaving with back spasms. |

Joe Keough came off the pitching DL, to fill in for Tom Baionno out with a bad shoulder after diving for a ball in game 1,to face a good hitting O's line up. When the Townies did get something going they hit the ball right at someone or the O's solid defense would make a nice play to snuff it out. Overall the Townies did pretty good this year, with just one team to draw from!! and a 15 man roster. |

Holmwood Gray Sox 6, Metro Red Sox 5
Great game at Feeley as Holmwood beats Metro Sox 6-5 to advance to next round. Dave Tompkins had a huge double in the 7th to tie the game at 5, and Bill Twomey's sacrifice fly won it. Kevin Locke was 4-4 and threw a runner out at home, and Sean Oconnor was 2-3 with an rbi. Tony Catalano pitched 5 strong innings and Sean Oconnor closed it out to pick up the win. Mark Moise and Jerry Dawson had 2 hits apiece for the Red Sox, and like always Mike Whately pitched well |
