North Shore Havoc 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1 6 0

Pirates salvage a "series" split in a well played game at Breed in Lynn. Pirates bats got off to a hot start with an RBI groundout by Andrew Getchell followed by an RBI single by Pat Dempsey in the first. Getchell added to his RBI total with a sac fly in the third. The Pirates were pretty much stifled at the plate after that.

Luckily, John Burnheimer picked the away team up in a big way, with a solid 5 inning effort in his first Pirates start. He held the Havoc hitless through the first 4, before surrendering a run on 3 hits in the 5th. He was relieved by Bucs veteran Paul Aseltine, who closed the door for a 2 inning save - his first of the year. Bucs pitching was aided by some stellar defense, particularly at the corners with Jory Curran and Chris Holland making some tremendous plays throughout.

Pirates travel to Quincy to take on the South Shore Giants this Sunday.

The Pirates got out to a large early lead in the home opener at Barnes Memorial Park in Dedham, but almost blew it. Aseltine was solid except for a nightmare 4th inning which saw him issue 4 walks and the Pirates yuck up the ball around the infield with a couple miscues. The Pirates held on by a final score of 11-8 against a good hitting Senators team.

The Bucs offense picked up right where they left off during the rainsoaked Wednesday evening by banging out 13 hits. Pirates rookie Patrick Dempsey took home the Pirates' chest with a McDreamy performance going 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI.
