The Braves needed a win tonight to keep their playoff hopes alive and they certainly made that happen. Scoring 12 runs on 6 hits, the Braves took hold in the 3rd inning putting up 11 runs and didn't look back. The Braves pitching staff also combined for a no hitter through the 5 inning mercy ruled game. Chris Delouchrey pitched 3 innings with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks. Alex McKeown came in to finish it up for the last 2 innings and had 5 strikeouts. Corey Schwartz lead the way with the bat going 2-2 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, a walk and a stolen base. The Braves will travel to Lawrence Sunday to take on the Yankees in another must win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Royals kept the win streak going on Sunday sweeping a double header against the Lexington Braves. In Game 1, Justin Chere gave the Royals a solid performance on the mound and picked up the win pitching 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts. James O'Neil blasted a 2 run homerun in the second inning, the Royals got multiple hits from Dominic Coviello, Ryan Ritell, and Steven Rivela, and Scott Weber (111 career games with the Royals) recorded his first career stolen base with a straight steal of third base in the 4th inning. The Royals went on to win 7-1.

The Braves headed to Methuen to take on the Rockies looking to build off the previous week's win against the Marlins. On a humid, cloudy morning Joey Attanasio pitched a complete game only letting up 4 runs on 4 hits with 5 strike outs. Nick Valdario lead the Braves with his bat reaching base in all 4 at bats going 2-2 with a double, 3 runs scored, a walk, and HBP. The Braves look to continue their winnings ways when they travel to Lawrence to face the Yankees.

After dropping their last 6 games the Braves showed up to play against the Marlins for a game that has been circled on the schedule for a long time. The Braves were lead by the arm of Chris Delouchrey who went the distance throwing a complete game no hitter with 12 strikeouts. The Braves will look to build off this big win and face the Rockies in Methuen next Sunday morning.

The Pirates were again victorious in Game 2 in a rain-shortened game at Lexington High School. Bucs battered Braves pitching for 10 more hits while receiving 8 walks. Andy Burkett was superb in relief of Nate Fishman, getting out of a third inning jam and holding the Braves two only 1 more run the rest of the way as the rain moved in.

The Pirates swashbuckled their way to a win in Game 1 banging out 17 hits. Todd Elkin and Brian Benulis led that way with three hits each, while Jackson Schuyler, Dillon Search-Wells, Andy Burkett and Jory Curran each had two. Paul Aseltine battled on the mound for his second win of the season, striking out 6 batters. He slipped up a bit late, but held on for the win, overcoming 3 triples by Connor Marr who starred for the Braves.

Mark Infurna (4-0) picked up his 4th win of the year, stopping the Giants' 2-game slide. Giants' defense almost let the game get away with 6 team errors but Infurna kept them in the game, and the Giants rallied in the back end of the game to steal a win from the Braves. Infurna pitched his 3rd consecutive CG dub and racked up 15Ks in this one, while only allowing 6 base runners. Next up for the Giants is a doubleheader back at home versus the Methuen Rockies.

The Cubs got back into the win column Sunday, beating the Braves 14-3. As a team, the Cubs produced 30 base runners, thanks to 17 walks. Bill McGee(0-1 4BB, HBP) and Kiyo Gomi (2-2, 3BB) were on base 5 times a each. Cory Albanese (2-4, 2BB, Triple) drove in 4 while also reaching base 4 times. Brian McCarthy (2-5, HBP) and Barret Jacobs (2-3, BB) had 2 hits a piece. John Quigg (5-1) went the distance allowing 3 runs, while scartering 8 hits and striking out 6 against 0 walks. The Cubs will be back at it Friday night against the Dodgers.
