Brandon Staples, the first overall pick in this year's draft, pitched a complete game for the win for the Singing Surgeons. Brandon scattered 6 hits and 2 earned runs over 7 innings, striking out 4 along the way for the Surgeons victory. Brandon was also a force at the plate with 2 hits, 2 runs scored, 2 RBIS, a 2B and a BB.
The Singing Surgeons overcame an early deficit by scoring 5 runs in the 5th and 9 runs in total over the final 3 innings to complete the comeback victory.
Jesse Alexander was a standout for the Surgeons with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIS. Dan Cooney tacked on 3 RBIS. Greg Gallivan added to the Singing Surgeons offense by going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBIS, a 2B and a BB. Zach Hunt had 2 hits while scoring a run. Also contributing to the Surgeons win were Derrick Amodei who had a hit, run and a RBI and Kenny Manero who stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs. |

Dave Clarke gets his first win of the year throwing 6 strong innings, striking out 7 as the Grays beat a short staffed Dodger team.
Bret Samboy led the Gray's offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI. The Dodgers battled back in the 6th, scoring 2 off a few Gray's misplays in the field. The Gray's responded with 2 more in the bottom half of the 6th giving Brett Nowlin more than enough cushion for his first save of the year.
The Gray's are back in action Saturday against the Surgeons. |

Rob Muollo had 2 hits and 2 runs, and Jordan Krall had 2 RBI in the victory. Brett O'Keefe threw a CG to improve to 5-1 on the year.
The Athletics take the season series 2-1 over the Dodgers and hold the playoff tiebreaker. The Athletics next play the Cutters, and the Dodgers play the Grays, both in games with important playoff implications. |

The Dodgers came from behind to top the Cutters 9-5 at Nipper Field under the lights in Waltham. Collantino went the distance on the hill for the Dodgers who batted around and tallied up 8 runs in the 6th to score the victory. Wilson hit two doubles for the Cutters. Hersh, Hall, Cahill, and Cumming all contributed RBI's for the Dodgers. The game snaps a rough losing streak for the Dodgers as they look to regain their footing and make a run for playoff qualification. |

Cambridge Spinners 7, Newton Dodgers 0
The Spinners found their winning ways Sunday, shutting out the Dodgers 7-0 in Malden. Pat Donahoe pitched five innings, striking out six and reliever Nolan Pandolfi kept the Dodgers off the board the rest of the way.
Cambridge scored four times in the fourth, thanks to plate patients and Newton pitching mistakes. Colin Sullivan scored twice and Mike Navarro scored a run, despite being plunked twice by Dodger pitching. MIke Knell's lead off double in the fifth sparked a three run Spinner inning in the fifth. Mark Killoren and Mike Tufo had sacrifice flies and RBIs.
Four Dodgers had hits in the losing effort. |

Boston Sox complete the season series sweep with an 11-2 win over the Newton Dodgers at Breed Middle School. With pointed control of the 12 to 6 breaking ball Dave Giarrusso was masterful on the bump for the Sox, allowing no earned runs, no walks, 6 hits, and fanning 7 over 5 innings.
The Sox lineup proved relentless, banging out 12 hits.
John Heim capped the night with a perfect 7th inning, striking out the side.

On a hot Sunday morning at Newton South High School, the Dodgers topped the Snappers by mercy rule after six innings. The Dodgers forsook the option to call the game at a forfeit, after the Snappers arrived with only seven players. After a delayed start, the Snappers added an eighth player for the bottom of the first and the game proceeded with both sides agreeing to make it an official contest. The Dodgers racked up six consecutive hits and five runs in the second inning then added four more runs in the third. The Dodgers lineup would ultimately plate 13 runs en route to the decisive victory over the Snappers. Jeff Hall picked up his third win of the season for the Dodgers with support from Peppin, Lynahping, and Zachary, who each pitched an inning of scoreless relief before the game was called early in the sixth. Trevor Barsamian scored three times for the Dodgers and Kevin Arroyo went 3-3 from the EH position. |

The Newton Dodgers prevailed despite some rough fielding to continue their win streak. Mike Cole picked up the win with five innings of strong work, persevering through some defensive miscues, and Shaw Chattin pitched the final two innings for the save. Evan Ordway scored three runs from the leadoff spot for the Dodgers. Carso scored twice for the Snappers with two hits. |
