CAMBRIDGE SPINNERS REPEAT!

The Spinners won their second consecutive MABL title Thursday night, beating the Athletics 4-3 and winning the championship series three games to one. Down 3-0 in the fifth, the Spinners mounted a rally and scored four times. Dan Caceres had two hits, including a double and drove in two runs. Greg Megedichian followed it up with a double and two RBIs of his own.
Luc Kocher pitched his second complete game of series, striking out six.

The A's loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh looking to force a fifth game, but the double play duo of Mike Navarro and Ryan Gaffney stopped the rally and ended a dramatic and hard-fought series between the league's top teams.

The Athletics scored three runs in the second to take an early lead. Nick Barton, Jason Tessari and Jay Lamoreaux scored. Kyle Bredenstein pitched a complete game with three strikeouts.

The Spinners took a 2-1 series lead in the league finals with a 4-0 win over the Athletics. Marty Clarke pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only six hits while striking out five.

Cambridge scored three times in the fifth, taking advantage of A's pitching mistakes. They loaded the bases and Armando de Los Santos scored on a bases loaded walk to Mike Tufo. Isaac Valvidiezo was hit by a pitch, bringing in a second run and a Ricky Salvia walk scored a third run.

Mark Killoren hit at triple to right field in the sixth and scored on a De Los Santos single.

The Spinners defense came up big as well, stopping an A's rally in the third with a double play and stops in the fourth and fifth inning to keep the shutout going.

Six different A's had hits in the losing effort.

A's EVEN SERIES ON VADALA WALK OFF
O'KEEFE GETS 10-INNING WIN

The A's walked off with a win in 10 innings to even the series at 1-1.

The Spinners' Pat Donohoe and the A's Brett O'Keefe dueled. Neither yielded a run through regulation. Donohoe yielded only 4 hits; O'Keefe just 6. Donohoe struck out 6; O'Keefe K'ed 7. But O'Keefe came out on top thanks to some timely hitting by the A's.

The Spinners collected the first run in the top of the 8th. Mike Navarro hit a 2-out single and scored on a Danny Caceres double over the right fielder.

With 2 outs and 2 strikes, the A's Brian Balise ripped a single through the 5-6 hole and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Rathapoom Asdornvuttikrai hit a single past the shortstop to plate Balise and tie the game.

In the 10th, Paul Mahoney worked a 2-out walk of reliever Marty Clarke. He then stole 2nd. Tom Vadala roped a line drive down the right-field line to tie the series.

Backed by a complete game shutout from Luc Kocher, the Spinners beat the Athletics 2-0 in game one of the league finals. Kocher gave up six hits while striking out three.

Isaac Valvidiezo scored both run for the Spinners, reaching base on an error in the first and a single in the fifth. Mike Knell had two hits and drove in Valvidiezo both times. The defense came up big, stopping A's rallies in the third and fifth and turned an inning-ending double play in the sixth.

Jordan Krall had two hits to lead the Athletics offense and Jason Kurtz struck out three in a complete game effort.

The Spinners beat the Dodgers 7-4 Sunday night to sweep the semifinal series and advance to the finals for the second consecutive season. Isaac Valvidieo had three hits and scored twice to lead the Cambridge offense. Dan Blomerth earned the win, pitching five strong innings and Marty Clarke picked up the save, pitching the last two.

The Spinners and the Dodgers went back and forth through four innings before a Mark Killoren double drove in Ryan Gaffney all the way from first to take the lead for good.

Rudy Hersh hit a solo home run in the second to put the Dodgers on the board. Dave Dow, Evan Ordway and Alex Ahmed scored runs in the losing effort.

Spinners struck first in the 1st inning on a O.Caceres sac fly. After an early error, the Dodgers tied the game up on a Rosso line drive.

After pitching 11in last series, Dodgers Ace Mike Cole seemed to be on top of his game. But in the 3rd with Salvia on, O.Caceres picked up his 2nd RBI of the night, putting the Spinners up 2-1.

Spinners Rookie, Pat Donohoe allowed 0 ER in 5 IP and pitched out of a jam in the 4th. In the 6th, he gave way to closer Pat Clapp. The Dodgers wouldn't go away though. In the 7th, the lead off batter reached base and stole 2nd. With 1 out, pinch hitter Dan Turner hit into a fielders choice that would tie the ball game.

In the 8th, Navarro beat out a ground ball, and D.Caceres would draw a walk. With 2 men on, De Los Santos hit a single scoring Navs and giving the Spinners the go ahead run. After a pitching change, M.Tufo singled to LF scoring 2 more insurance runs.

The Spinners took game one of their semifinal series 7-4 over the Dodgers. Luc Koche pitched a complete game, giving up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out eight.

Down 2-1 in the third, Cambridge scored six times to take the lead for good. Seven different Spinners scored runs and were led by multi hit games from Mike Knell, Omar Caceres, Mike Navarro and Greg Megidichan. Megadichian drove in three runs in the third on a bases clearing double.

The Dodgers scored first with a Rosso two run home run and scored twice in the fourth, pushing the Spinners to the limit.

Game two is Thursday in Cambridge.

Spinners capture the #1 seed and home field throughout the 2016 playoffs.

It was a who's who of Spinner pitchers today, as 4 of them split time on the bump combining for 8 strike outs. Salvia led the team with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, improving his league leading total to 26. Mike Knell and Omar Caceres chipped in with 2 RBIs a piece. The lone Dodgers threat came in the 3rd, when they loaded the bases with no outs, but Donohoe got out of jam by striking out the next 3 batters.

Spinners earned a 1st rd bye and a much needed break. Back at it on Sept. 13th.

The Spinners clinched the Bay State division for the third consecutive year and a bye in the first round of the playoffs with an 8-0 win over the Orioles. Luc Kocher earned his 9th win, tying the MABL single season record, with a five inning and eight strike out performance. Pat Clapp came on for the save with three strikeouts.

The Cambridge bats pounded out six doubles, with Ryan Gaffney hitting two. Mike Navarro and Mike Tufo each drove in two runs.

The Spinners look to close out the regular season with a win and home field advantage in the post-season on Sunday against the Dodgers.

In a shortened game, Spinners hopped on the O's early plating 5 runs in the 1st and continuing the onslaught with 15 more in the following 4 innings. Salvia led the Spinners with 3 hits and 5 RBIs, while Gaffney, Killoren and Valdiviezo contributed 2 hits a piece. Every Spinner scored a run tonight.

Rookie, Pat Donohoe, picks up his 1st win in the MABL with 6 ks in 4 innings, while allowing 1 run.

Next up, the Spinners will play the Giants on Sunday in Malden.

Spinners down 5-0 put up 3 in the 6th inning on a 3 run homer by Killoren and have runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out but strand them.

Top 7 Cutters plate a run on a Tejada double to go up 6-3. Bottom of frame Spinners put up 3 to tie it and another big hit by Killoren.

Top 8th, Weldon singles and steals second, then moves to 3rd on a flyout. After a walk to Varakis, Chris Deane hits a 2 run double to center to go up 8-6. Leineweber gets the Spinners in order in the bottom of the 8th.

Every Cutters starter reaches base safely at least once and after losing some tight games early this season, Cutters have now won 6 of their last 7, and 8 of their last 10.

White Sox win behind a great effort by Seth Perkins and a big home run by Anthony Morales.

Perkins improved to 7-1 striking out 8 and allowing just 1 unearned run through 6 before tiring in the 7th and giving way to Forrand.

Both teams exchanged zeros for the first 3 innings before Anthony Morales put the Sox up for good with his 1st long ball of the year. Jake Perkins had a big day with 3 hits.

For the Spinners Donahoe pitched well and Knell checked in with 2 hits including an RBI 3B.
