A's TAKE MABL CROWN!

Game 4 was a pitchers' duel in the truest sense of the words. The Sox' Ruiz was nearly perfect, allowing only 3 baserunners and striking out 4. But the A's Breidenstine came out on top with his 3rd postseason shutout.

In the top of the 2nd, the Sox loaded the bases with a couple hits. But Breidenstine got out of the jam with a pitcher-to-catcher putout for out 1 and a pop to short for out 2. A strikeout got the A's back in the dugout--and fired up!

In bottom 4, Nick Tapper bombed one into left center and slid into 3rd for a triple. Against a drawn-in infield, Bo McIntyre punched one through the right side to plate Tapper. That was all the offense either team could muster.

But it was enough support for a focused Breidenstine. The A's recorded the final out on a chopper to 3rd--and the celebration was on!

Congratulations to both the A's and the Sox for outstanding seasons and a hard-fought series

A's TAKE GAME 2

The A's took the 2-0 series lead behind a gem from Jason Kurtz and a 3-run home run from Bo McIntyre.

The game was a pitchers' duel between Kurtz and the Sox' Victor Ruiz. Kurtz gave up just 3 hits and struck out 6, while Ruiz yielded only 4 hits and K'ed 4.

The White Sox drew first blood in the top of the fifth. Weldon reached first, breaking his lumber in the process. He swiped second. And two batters later, Valerio roped a single to center to plate Weldon.

In the A's half of the sixth, Alan Donaruma led off with a bunt single that stopped right on the chalk. Asdornvuttirkai drew a walk. And Tapper ripped a ball just out of the reach of the Sox shortstop, scoring Donaruma to tie it up. With two on, McIntyre then smacked one over the right fielder and legged out the home run.

With the 3-run cushion, Kurtz made quick work in the 7th, retiring the Sox 1-2-3.

Game 3 is Wednesday at Ryan.

A's TAKE GAME 1

The A's topped the White Sox in Game 1 of the Championship Series, behind the strong bat of Matt Asdornvuttikrai and the strong arm of Kyle Breidenstine.

In the first, the A's jumped out to a quick 3-run lead on a 2-RBI single by Jordan Krall and an RBI double from Jay Lamoureux. In the fourth, they added two more. Asdornvuttikrai doubled in Alan Donaruma. Nick Tapper then singled home Asdornvuttikrai, who finished 4 for 4.

That was all Kyle Breidenstine needed, as he cruised to his third victory of the postseason (and second shutout). He struck out 5 and allowed just 4 hits.

Game 2 is Monday night at Ryan Field in Charlestown.

A's ADVANCE

The A's emerged from a hard-fought series with the Grays to advance to the championship series.

The A's won game 5 with pitching and defense. Matt Rosenzweig went the distance, pitching out of some very tense situations. He gave up only one run and struck out 6.

Behind him, both corner outfielders recorded assists. Colella gunned out a runner in the 1st. And Lamoureux hosed a runner at the plate on a would-be sac fly. Despite 9 hits, the Grays mustered just one run, on a Beagley sac fly in the 6th.

The A's didn't produce much offense, managing just enough to win. Lamoureux led off the 3rd with a bunt single. Colella walked. Donaruma then singled. With the bases loaded, Asdornvuttikrai worked the RBI walk. And Nick Tapper capped off the inning with a 2-RBI double to left center.

The A's take on the White Sox for the MABL crown beginning Sunday morning at Ryan. Congratulations to the Grays on a great

A's RALLY IN 7TH TO WIN

The A's tied the series up at 2-2 in another wild game. They jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd on a throwing error.

The Grays responded in the 3rd with five straight hits, including a Gulinello RBI single, that led to two runs of their own.

In the 5th, the Grays' Branche connected with a single to right filed to plate the go-ahead run.

In the top of the 7th, the A's O'Keefe hustled to beat out a throw from short. Pinch hitter Wilde sacrificed O'Keefe to 2nd. Donaruma walked. Matt Asdornvuttikrai added to his already stellar season by singling in O'Keefe for the tying run. An errant throw allowed Donaruma to score the winning run. McIntyre added some cushion with a 2-RBI single to right.

Breidenstine shut the door in the bottom of the 7th, finishing his day with 7 strikeouts. Plumitallo K'ed 5 A's and yielded only 6 hits.

The rubber game takes place Thursday night at Fallon.

A's TIE UP THE SERIES

Kyle Breidenstine led the A's back from the 0-1 series deficit with a two-hit shutout.

The A's got all the offense they needed in two innings. In the second, Andrew Billig led off with a single, and advanced to third on passed balls. Matt Rosenzweig then plated Billig with a sac fly to right.

In the third, the A's got a little two-out magic. Matt Asdornvuttikrai reached error. He scored on McIntyre triple. Lamoureux then plated McIntyre. Rosenzweig hit a two-RBI double, and O'Keefe singled Rosenzweig in.

Matt Rosenzweig finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in the victory.

A's ADVANCE IN TIGHT CONTEST

The A's mustered just enough offense behind their outstanding pitchers to win and advance to the semifinals.

Jason Kurtz went five strong innings in the win. He struck out five and yielded just five hits.

In the first inning, Matt Asdornvuttikrai hit a double to right center. After advancing on a passed ball, Nick Tapper drove him in with a rare infield single.

In the fifth, the A's scraped another run across. Warren Asdornvuttikrai singled through the 3-4 hole, and advanced to second on a passed ball. He scored on an Alan Donaruma pop up that the Sox shortstop couldn't handle.

The Red Sox struck back in their half of the fifth. Tyler Ferdinand doubled down the left field line and got to third on Chand's sinble. Lenane then hit a deep fly to right for the sac.

The A's Brian Mylett then closed the book with the two-inning save.
