East Boston Knights 0 1 0 1 0 0 x 2 8 1

The East Boston Knights hosted the South Boston Saints with a chance to clinch the Yaz division. With that in mind the Knights used both Branden Eaton and Sean Hannon to ensure on this Knight they would be crowned division champs.

Eaton started and went 4 innings followed by Hannon for 3 and neither disappointed the largest crowd on hand in East Boston's history. The Saints could only muster up one hit off the duo, that being a slow roller up the middle off of the bat of Byron Evans in the first inning. The Knights pushed across single runs in the 2nd and 4th to take a 2-0 lead. Kenny Polanco was 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead the charge offensively for the Knights.

With 2 out in the top of the 7th pinch hitter Rob Stephenson grounded to Anthony Ortiz who fired to Ace DiNapoli to end the game and clinch the Yaz division!!!! For the Knights it is the first Division Championship and playoff appearance in their short history!!!

Savin Hill Hornets 4, South Boston Saints 3

 Summary | Box Score
Final 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E
Savin Hill Hornets 0 0 0 1 0 3 0 4 8 1
South Boston Saints 2 0 0 1 0 0 0 3 8 4

Henry Spitzer launched a 3-run homer over the left field fence at Somerville's Trum Field to give the Hornets a 4-3 victory.

Lacking any of the usual starting pitching, Savin Hill relied on 2B Alex Criscuolo and CF Dave Clark to keep the game close. Nate Hodor pitched the final two innings, tight-rope walking to his second save of the season and the week. He walked 2 and another reach on an error, but didn't allow a hit.

Saint batters, Paul Larocque and Bryan Evans each had 2 hits a piece. For Savin Hill, Pat McClay and Henry Spitzer each collected 2 hits.

The Saints, however, winners of 5 of their last 7 before this one, may have let one get away. A base running mistake in the third, followed by missing a force play at the plate in the top of the forth cost South Boston a couple of runs. Leaving 10 men on base on top of that left the door open for Spitzer's heroics.

And he walked right through....
