The Yanks jumped out to an early lead scoring 5 runs in the 1st 2 innings. Paul Reggio pitched masterfully allowing 1 run (0 ER) on 3 hits through 5 inn to pick up the win. Ken Kilduff pitched 2 scoreless innings to close things out. Todd Steffanides helped the pitchers at SS making all 8 plays that came his way.

Offensively, co-playoff MVPs AJ Bucciarelli (3-4, 3B,3R,SB,RBI) and Jeff Coveney (2-2,RBI) both had multi-hit games. Adam Frauton hit a 2-run homerun in the 6th into the Healy bushes.

For the Cardinals, Conrad Paquette knocked in the lone Cardinal run with a 3rd inning double.

6 runs in the 1st two innings gave Quinn Ryan all the support he would need. Ryan scattered 8 hits over 6 innings while allowing 4 earned runs to pick up the victory.

Offensively, Jeff Coveney (4-5, 2B, 4 RBI) and Adam Frauton (3-4, HR, 3R, RBI) led the way for the Yanks. AJ Bucciarelli continued to stay hot going 2-5 with 2 doubles.

For the Cards, Jeff James started on the hill but was forced to leave the game with an arm injury in the 1st inning. Scott Bevis pitched the rest of the way. Offensively, Dan Jalbert led the Card's offense with 3 hits and an RBI. Yale Dieckmann also had a multi-hit game.

A fantastic start to the Championship Series was decided with a walkoff homerun by Jeff McHugh.

The Yankees jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st on doubles by AJ Bucciarelli and Todd Steffanides and a 2-out single by Frank Kowalski. The Cardinals answered in the 2nd with a bomb by Dan Jalbert off the house in left field.

The game remained 2-1 through 5 with Bryan Gauvin (6IP,8Ks,4 hits,4ER) and Mike Greaney (7IP,8Ks,6 hits,6ER) holding batters at bay.

Mike Moloney gave the Yanks some insurance with an RBI triple in the 6th and scored on a WP.

In the 7th down 4-1, the Cards battled to tie it at 4-4 thanks to a few walks and key singles by Brian Wachob, Yale Dickerman and Chris Caprio.

After a 2-out walk in the bottom of the 7th, the stage was then set for McHugh who hit a high fly into the left field trees at Healy for a 2-out, 2-run game winning home run. Ken Kilduff picked up the win in relief.

The Broncos and Yankees engaged in another battle. This time, the Broncos were the victors with a win in their last at bat. Santos Gonzalez got the complete game win scattering 8 hits and striking out 13. In a no-decision, starter Paul Reggio pitched well through 5.1 innings allowing just 4 hits and 2 ER.

The Broncos drew 1st blood in the 2nd inning. After an Elvis Paulino single and a Yankees error, Rafael Inchaustegui blasted a 3-run homerun to take a 3-0 lead.

The Yanks then battled back with 4 runs in the 4th highlighted by run scoring doubles by Todd Steffanides and Greg Crossman.

The Broncos tied it in the 6th when Sandy Gonzalez lead off with a hit and scored on a Yankees error.

Bryan Gauvin outdueled Chino Roman as the Yanks win a nail biter in their last at bat with a 2-out, 2 strike based loaded hit by Todd Steffanides. Gauvin struck out a playoff record 19 batters while allowing just 3 hits and 1 unearned run in 7 innings. Roman came up with some huge strikeouts (14 total) while allowing just 1 ER.

The Yanks drew 1st blood when AJ Bucciarelli knocked in Nick Stenzel with a triple in the 3rd inning. Bucciarelli had a huge night going 3-3 with an RBI, a double and a triple. The Broncos then tied it in the 6th thanks to a Pedro Flores single, a stolen base and a few Yankee’s miscues.

Tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, Mike Moloney started the ralley with a double to left. After a walk to Paul Szumita and a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt by Stenzel, the Broncos intentionally walked Bucciarelli to load the bases. Steffanides then delivered the winning run with a topspin single up the middle.

Yanks win the series and advance to the Semi Finals as Paul Reggio earned his 1st playoff victory tossing 5 innings allowing 1 ER on 5 hits while striking out 5. Quinn Ryan closed out the final two frames allowing 1 run (0 ER). Defensively, the Yankees infield was superb with several diving plays by 2nd basemen AJ Bucciarelli and 3rd basemen Jeff Coveney to thwart several Cubs rallies.

Six Yankees had multi-hit games highlighted by Todd Steffanides (3-4, 3R, double), Adam Frauton (2-3, 3 RBI, triple) and Jeff McHugh (2-2, 3 RBI, double). Jeff Coveney (2-4, 2 RBI), Frank Kowalski (2-3, RBI, triple) and Greg Crossman (2-3) also had two hits.

For the Cubs, Shane Steffens took the loss. Chad Besegai had two hits for the Cubs.

The Cubs drew 1st blood in the 1st inning scoring a run on a Mike Pietrasiewicz single and a Chad Besegai triple. That’s all the hitting Bryan Gauvin and Ken Kilduff would allow. Gauvin earned the victory pitching 5 innings allowing just those 2 hits and 1 ER while striking out 11. Kilduff hurled two hitless innings to close out the game while striking out 4.

Cubs starter, Steve Guerrera held the Yankees at bay with only 5 hits. However, a Frank Kowalski (1-2, RBI) solo blast in the 2nd and a Jeff Coveney (1-3, 2 RBI) RBI single in the 3rd gave the Yanks all the lead they would need. With 3 Cubs errors, the Yankees pushed 4 across in the 4th with just 1 hit in the inning by AJ Bucciarelli (2-4, 2R, SB).

The Astros Sean Kennedy held the Yankees at bay though 5 innings with just 1 ER. The Yanks then exploded for 8 runs in the final 2 innings highlighted by Jeff McHugh's bases loaded triple in the 7th. AJ Bucciarelli and Todd Steffanides had multi-hit games while Paul Szumita pitched in with an RBI double.

Bryan Gauvin picked up the win in relief tossing a scoreless 4th and 5th. Ken Kilduff shut the door in the 6th and 7th to earn the save.

Note: McHugh continued his offense run with another 4 RBI day to give him 21 RBIs in his last 5 games.

Backed by Jeff McHugh’s 4 RBI performance including a 3-run homerun, Paul Reggio improved to 5-0 on the season. Reggio went the distance allowing 4 runs (3 ER) on 5 hits while striking out 5.

AJ Bucciarelli (2-4, double, 2 RBI), Adam Frauton (2-4), Mike Moloney (2-4, RBI) and Ken “I’m not just a pitcher” Kilduff (2-3, RBI) all had multi-hit games. Jeff Coveney and Nick Stenzel also pitched in with triples.

For the As, Ryan Thompson reached a milestone by going 1-2 in SB attempts to break the MABL single season record for stolen bases with 33. Also, Mike Baker had 2 RBIs and 2 hits.

Other notes: McHugh is an amazing 9-13 with 17 RBIs and 4 homeruns in his last 4 games. McHugh also reached 34 RBIs, which is a Yankees single season record.

Back in the saddle. Bryan Gauvin was absolutely magnificent in his return to pitching duties. In picking up his 7th win, Gauvin went 4 scoreless innings and recorded 11 of 12 possible outs as strikeouts while allowing just 2 hits.

Meanwhile, the Yanks offense exploded for a season high 21 hits including 6 homeruns and a cycle by Todd Steffanides. Five Yankees had 3 or more hits:

Down 3-2 going into the bottom of the 4th, the Yanks bats came to life. After a Mike Moloney (2-3, 3 RBI, 3B, HR) 2-run homerun, Jeff McHugh (2-3, 3B, RBI) followed with a triple. Jeff Coveney (1-1, 2B, RBI) then followed with an RBI double. Greg Crossman (2-3, RBI) capped off the 4-run inning with a run scoring single.

In a game that featured a combined 26 hits, the Yankees outlasted the Mariners 12-5 at the Circle Saturday morning, in the process clinching the Western Division crown. Tied at 2 going into the bottom of the 4th inning, the Yankees broke the game open with back-to-back 5-run innings.

The Yankee offense was paced by Jamie Matthews (3-for-4, 3-RBI's) and Adam Frauton (2-for-3, 2-RBI's).

Paul Reggio improved to 3-0 by scattering 12-hits and escaping several jams during his complete game win.

The Mariner's were lead offensively by Brendan Power (3-for-4, HR short of hitting-for-the-cycle) and Jon Freni (3-for-4, HR, 2-RBI's).

Corey Aldoupolis took the complete game loss.

In a tightly pitched game, the Yankees edged out the Royals in game 2 as Quinn Ryan earned his 2nd Yankees win allowing 3ER in 5 innings. Jamie Mathews (1-2, RBI) came up with the game's key hit in the top of the 6th to knock in Jeff Coveney (2-2) from 3rd base to give the Yanks a 4-3 lead.

The drama continued in the bottom of the 6th as Ken Kilduff entered the game with 2 outs and notched a key strikeout to end a Royal's rally. Kilduff then finished out the 7th for the save.

Other notes: The Yank's Frank Kowalski went 2-3 with a double and an RBI. For the Royals, Tom Spoth took the hard luck loss going all 7 innings. Travis Taliaferro had 3 hits on the day.

In a most improbable comeback the Royals rallied for 7 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game up. Then, the Royals completed the comeback by getting a run in the 8th for the win. The rally in the 7th was capped by back-to-back 2 RBI Doubles by Tom Spoth and Felix Villalobos. Felix then scored on a WP to tie things up. In the 8th, John Palumbo drove home Mike Malin for the winning run with 2 outs.
Dan Cawley got the win by pitching 3 scoreless innings of relief. Dan gave up only 1 hit and K'd 3 Yankees.

Greg Kosc (2 for 5, Run, RBI), John Palumbo (2 for 4, Run, 2RBI), and Tom Spoth (3 for 4, Run, 2RBI) all had multi-hit games for the Royals.

For the Yankees, Adam Frauton, Jeff McHugh, and Dankey all had two hits a piece. Nick Stzensil belted a deep RBI triple in the 5th.
