South End Astros 0 0 0 1 2 0 3 3 0

SOUTH END, MA.......The East Boston Knights pound out 15 runs on 12 hits as the offense provided the sparks on this hot and humid night in the South End. Knights starter Sean Hannon was sharp allowing only 1 earned run while taking a no hitter thru the 4th inning. Things got interesting in the 4th when both benches emptied after Moises Maza ran into catcher Carl Rodriguez trying to score form 3rd. Tyler Higgins paid the price by getting booted by the home plate umpire and left the Knights without thier leadoff hitter. The Knights responded with a thud. With 2 outs in the 4th Chris Dowd reached on a fielders choice and after a steal Omar Ortiz hit a single to take a 3 to 1 lead. The Knights went on to score 9 more runs all with TWO outs to take a commanding lead. The Knights would add 3 in the 6th to make it a 15 to 3 final.

Veteran pitcher Steve Melo took the mound Saturday and with his team desperately needing a strong performance threw a complete game shutout. Limited to only a fastball and a changeup due to an elbow injury, Melo kept the Sabers off balance while walking one and striking out 4.

The only Astros run was scored by Willie Sanjurjo who hit a 1 out triple in the 7th inning. Francis Reyes followed with a sac fly to right and that was all Melo needed to pick up his 2nd W of the season.
