The Padres beat the Reds 12-3 Wednesday behind both the bat and the arm of Julio Gonzalez. Gonzalez had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the first and fifth innings. Gonzalez pitched very well for the Padres. The Reds managed just two hits off of the the Padres' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his six innings of work. The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Padres scored two runs on a two-run double by Reyes. The Padres continued to add runs until the end of the game. The Padres scored three runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Yey Frias and a two-run double by Roberto Terrero. The Padres' Marcos Reyes, Frias, Gonzalez, Matt Simonds and Jayson Gonzalez combined for Ten hits and nine RBIs.
