The Reds weren't able to come back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Padres, and the Reds lost 4-3 to the Padres after falling behind by four runs in the fourth inning. The Reds scored on an RBI single by Wahl in the fifth inning and an RBI double by West and an RBI single by Jason Baldeck in the sixth inning. Unfortunately, the Reds weren't able to take the lead back. Alex Dejesus reached base two times. He singled in the second inning. Julio Gonzalez picked up the win for the Padres. Gonzalez pitched seven innings and allowed no earned runs, nine hits and one walk while striking out four. The lead stayed with the Padres after the first, when they scored one run on an RBI single by Hamlet Tejada. The Padres added two more runs in the top of the fourth. Smearlyn Acevedo kicked things off with a single, scoring Dejesus. That was followed up by Gonzalez's single, bringing home Acevedo.
