Erick Parent lost his no-hit bid on the last out of the game on a flair single to right field just out of the reach of both the gold glove second baseman and the right fielder. He finished with a complete game, 8 K performance and allowed just one unearned run when Erik DiGuilio threw up all over a double play ball at 3rd base and managed to record 2 errors on the play. Erick Parent was however overshadowed by fellow Phillie, Jeff Polinski, who was elevated to the leadoff spot with Stephen Rosenlund absent for the week. Despite the Phillies scoring 11 runs in just 6 innings, Jeff still managed to go 0 for 4 with no walks, no runs scored and never reached base.
