Phil Motley went four innings, allowing just two baserunner via errors. Motley was the model of efficiency, throwing only 37 pitches to record 12 outs. Rookie Nick Staehle came in to record his first career save. Staehle struck out three and let up just one hit in three innings of work. Jon Gerwitz led off the scoring, lacing an inside-the-park home run to the fence in right centerfield in the first inning. Nick Staehle's RBI single plated two in the second inning for the Comets, and both Brian Reiter and Baker DeCamp had two hits apiece.
