Bryan Fox tossed a complete game four-hitter in the Astros' win. Fox walked none and retired 16 Mets on ground balls; his only strikeout ended the game. For the Mets, Bill Beauchesne was almost as strong over 6.1 innings, scattering five hits and four walks in a tough-luck loss, allowing no earned runs. Sean Kennedy's RBI single capped the Astros' three-run rally in the third inning. Tony Ricupero's incredible over-the-shoulder catch in shallow centerfield kept the tying run from scoring in the fifth. He also scored the 81st run of his career, breaking the Astros' record held by Sean McCarty. Pat McGann added two more runs for the victorious Astros. Al Becker had two hits and an RBI for the Mets.
