Kit Kadlec went the distance for the win, allowing just 2 hits and no earned runs over the final 6 as the Mets clinched their first winning season. Pat Castro put the Mets ahead to stay with a 2-out, 2-run single in the 5th. Will Garnett was 2-for-2 with 2 walks and an RBI. Greg Cote was 2-for-4 with a double that tied the MABL single-season record (11). Cote also set an MABL season record for at-bats (96), and Al Becker did the same for plate appearances (106). Brian Fodera walked 3 times to finish the season with a .364 BA and .481 OBP, marking improvements of 364 and 481 points, respectively.

In what could turn out to be the last at-bat of a memorable MABL career, Darren Martineau lined a single and received a standing ovation from the assembled throng. In his last inning as a bachelor, Justin Wetherby tossed a perfect frame. Wetherby also became the first left-handed third baseman-- well, the first one that I've seen.

Kadlec is a super-nice guy; Will Garnett completed an errorless season; Martineau makes like Ted Williams, except with a single.
