The Mets banged out 22 hits and scored in every inning to take Game 1 of a DHer with the Dodgers. Tim Fortune (5-2) battled through 5 innings for the win and helped himself with 3 hits including a 3-run HR, but the real story was the continued unconsciousness of Kit Kadlec at the plate. Kadlec went 6-for-6 in the game and followed up with 3 straight hits in Game 2 before finally making an out in his last at-bat. On the day, Kadlec finished 9-for-10 with 6 runs scored, 5 steals and 2 RBIs. The out snapped a string of 12 consecutive hits (plus a walk) dating back to last Sunday. Kadlec has amassed a staggering 19 hits in his last 23 at-bats. Fortune (4 RBIs), Al Becker (4 RBIs), Greg Cote and Seth Grossman added 3 hits apiece.
For the Dodgers, Adam Gabriel and Andy Hickey each had 2 hits. |
