The Astros put a pounding on the Mets at The Jeff. Mike Vernon shut down the Mets through four innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out nine for the first win of his MABL career. Gary DiPerna went three strong for the save. Terry Belli led the 'Stros offense going 2 for 2 with 3 RBI, 2B, BB, HP, and SB. Vinay Chakravarthy was 3 for 4 with a 2B, 2R, and an RBI. Cory Edgar was 2 for 4 with a 2B and an RBI. Craig Genualdo continued his strong output with 2 RBI and Timmy Clark hit a two-run homer and finished with 3 RBI on the night. For the Mets, Kit Kadlec was 2 for 3 with 2R. Al Becker and Greg Cote had RBI singles in the 7th.
