Al Wiesner (1-1, 0.79) outdueled Tim Fortune (1-2, 0.74) at Clifford Field and the White Sox topped the Mets, 1-0. Chris Sansone's leadoff single in the top of the 1st was the Mets' only hit. Wiesner walked 3 and struck out 4 in completing the 1-hitter. The Mets hit just 2 balls out of the infield, and only 1 runner reached second base all night against Wiesner. Fortune nearly matched Wiesner, but 3 straight singles to start the game by Josh Gordon, Jon Mead and Wiesner plated the game's only run. After that, Fortune allowed just a single the rest of the way, striking out 7 and walking none in 6 innings. The White Sox defense turned a pair of double plays to erase Mets' leadoff runners. For the White Sox, Aarron Hutchins had the other hit and also reached base on a hit-by-pitch.

Wiesner and Fortune dueled at Clifford, but Wiesner got the upper hand thanks to his own first-inning RBI single.
