Greg Cote hit for the cycle as the Mets' offense bounced back from Sunday's drubbing by the Royals. Cote finished the night 4-for-4 with 4 runs scored and 6 RBIs. He tripled in a run in the 1st, singled in another in the 2nd, doubled in 2 in the 4th and drilled a 2-run HR in the 5th to complete the rare feat. Al Becker had 3 hits, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs, Tim Fortune was 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and Brent Bushong was 2-for-3 including a laser-beam 2-run HR in the 2nd. All the offensive production almost overshadowed the fine pitching of Steve Roberts, who scattered 7 hits and allowed no earned runs in the complete game. Roberts is now 4-0 with a 1.15 ERA. For the Indians, Lee Hughes had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, Josh Hale was 2-for-3 with a double and Justin Boynton drilled a 2-run triple. |
