The Spinners edged the Athletics 2-1 in a pitcher's duel Sunday. Luc Kocher pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits while striking out four. Pat Clapp came on in relief for the save. Cambridge broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning when Ricky Salvia hit a two run home run to right field. Dan Caceres and Mike Knell provided the rest of the Spinners offense. The A's rallied in the bottom of the seventh with two hits. Tom Vadalla drove in a run to cut the lead in half, but the A's stranded the tying and winning runs on base as Clapp worked his way out of the jam.
