In the first matchup between the Cantabs and Nationals on opening day, it was the ‘Tabs who walked away with a 4-0 victory. The second meeting between these teams was a doozy that saw Cambridge stake an early lead only to see it evaporate thanks in large part to back-to-back solo homeruns from the Nationals’ Ryan Bere and Jay Thomas. The Cantabs answered right back with a run in the following inning and added two more in the 9th on the way to a 6-3 win. This was a great game at the ever-unpredictable Iacono Playground. The solo shots from one-time 18+ Orioles Bere and Thomas were certainly highlight reel worthy, as were the multi-hit games from the Cantabs’ Ackerson, Skypeck, and Mothander. A big tip of the cap, too, to Cambridge’s Peter Kaes, who went the distance for the Cantabs in earning his first victory of the season.
