Cambridge Cantabs 4, Watertown Nationals 0
On Opening Day, and in the first ever meeting between the Cambridge Cantabs and Watertown Nationals, the Cantabs emerged with a 4-0 shutout victory behind a solid complete game effort from Joe Perna (1-0). The offense was buoyed by Elliot Shea, Chris Plant, and Nate Knowles, each of whom chipped in 2 hits.
The Nats' Jay Thomas (0-1) pitched effectively through the first 6 innings, limiting the Cantabs to only 1 run. But the Cantab offense roared to life in the 7th and 8th, adding some insurance runs to what was ultimately a 4-0 victory. Thomas, it should be noted, also contributed 2 hits in the loss. |
