The Tigers' Brian Houlding, an established BMBL pitcher and former anchor of the Defending Champion White Sox' pitching staff, went toe to toe with M's rookie pitcher Jarlin Gomez. Both pitchers made a habit of striking out opposing batters, with Houlding picking up 10 K's and Gomez striking out 14. With Tigers leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, the M's pushed across 4 runs against Houlding. The Tigers countered with 2 runs in the top of the seventh before Gomez ended the comeback bid.

With the M's bats in something of a coma for most of the day, Chris Corde brought the Mariners back to life with a bases-clearing triple. Matt Dumont knocked Corde in with a sacrifice fly for what would be the winning run.

Gomez (CG win, 4 ER, 14 K's) and Corde (triple, 3 RBI) starred for the M's. For the Tigers, Houlding matched Gomez the entire way and was supported by Nate Pane (2 hits, 3 runs, 1 RBI) and Jim Belcastro (2 hits, 2 RBI).

Gomez fans 14 in CG win, while Corde's triple plated 3; Houlding pitches solid game in defeat.
