After AJ Bucciarelli (1-4) led off the 10th with a single, Jeff McHugh (1-2, RBI) brought him home several batters later with a 2-out single. Quinn Ryan (3-5, RBI, 2B) then delivered an insurance run with a double.

Kevin Reggio started for the Yanks allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings. Jamie Mathews picked up the win in relief tossing 5 innings of shutout ball. Tom DeVeau took the loss for the Mariners. Scott Baker pitched well in his Mariners no-decision start.

The up-the-middle defense for the Yanks was outstanding as Bucciarelli and Greg Crossman combined for 12 assists and 10 putouts including and terrific game saving play in the bottom of the 7th by Crossman.
