Justin Wetherby shut down his former teammates as the Mariners beat the Mets, 6-3. Wetherby allowed 4 hits and 2 earned runs in 6.1 innings, striking out 4. Tom Deveau earned the save by getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the 7th.

The Mariners took advantage of Tim Fortune's wildness to put up a 3-spot in the 1st. After a Steve Gray RBI double, the M's scored on a strike-3 wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk. Mark Balfe and Corey Aldoupolis had RBIs in the 3rd and 4th as the Mariners took a 6-0 lead. Gray and Jeff Rausch had 2 hits each for the Mariners. Jon Mead (2B) and Jaime Aldoupolis (RF) each made great diving plays in the field.

The Mets rallied with a 2-run single by Kit Kadlec in the 6th, and loaded the bases in the 7th before Jay Joyce hit a liner right to the third baseman who stepped on the bag for the game-ending DP. Kadlec tossed 3 perfect innings with 6 Ks.

Wetherby got the win; Deveau earned the save; Kadlec: 3 perfect IP and 2 RBIs
