Neil Doherty held the potent Cards offense at bay for 7 solid innings and the Marlins put up 9 runs to come out on top at Clifford Field.

Chris Ryan got the offense going for the Fish in the bottom of the first, belting a solo homer to right center. The Marlins then added two in the second, when after a perfect sacrifice by Joe Montoya, Matt King singled to center scoring two.

The bottom of the Marlins order came through again in the fourth inning. Davin Wilfrid hit a one out triple, and then scored on a fielders choice by Paul Bracco. Another single by King scored Bracco, and a double by Tim Sheflin knocked in another run. The outcome was sealed in the fifth when Ryan, Wilfrid and Bracco all drove in single runs.

Doherty again relied on pinpoint control to pick up his 4th win of the season, picking up 5 K's while walking only one and allowing only 2 earned runs. Jeff James (7-1) took the loss for the Cards.

Neil wins his 4th, Ryan: 7 gm hitting streak
