Hiro Nakamura of the Marlins and Rob Sherman of the A's squared off in a prime time pitcher's duel in East Boston. Timely offense made the difference for the Marlins as they emerged with a 3-1 victory.

The A's were first to strike as Pedro Gil (2-3, run) singled, stole second and scored on a Michael Elko single in the third. The Marlins answered in the bottom half with Matt King scoring on a fielders choice grounder by Nakamura.

The Marlins later added single runs in the 5th and 6th; the first on an RBI single by Andy Katz scoring Brian Mahoney and later an infield single by Paul Bracco plating Nakamura.

In the meantime, Hiro was lights out on the hill, allowing only 5 hits and walking none. He collected 8 strikeouts while going the distance for his 5th victory of the season.

Sherman (5-6) was equally brilliant for the A's, striking out 6 to become only the 4th pitcher in the last 8 years to reach 100 in a MABL season.

Hiro: 1-3 and complete game gem; Sherman: Triple digit K's
