For the second straight season, the Royals and Mariners kicked off opening day in the CABL as third year veteran Chris Johnson took the mound for the Royals opposite of Mariners ace Chris Horne. Johnson pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing only two hits with four strikeouts picking up the win. The Royals offense scored 9 runs in 5 innings off Horne, the CABL reigning CY Young winner. Catcher Ryan Ritell led the offense going 2-2 with a walk, a run scored, and 3 RBI. Next week the Royals head to Billerica to take on the Warriors.
