In the Atlantic Conference Finals, the White Sox took a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning when Brett Rudy led off with a walk and later scored. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th inning.

For the Yanks, Dave Galehouse singled to leadoff and AJ Booch bunted him over. Mike Moloney then singled to Jason Hoye in centerfield. Hoye threw home, but Galehouse slid under the tag safe. On the next at bat, Frank Kowalski singled to Dave Martin in rightfield. Martin threw home, but Moloney slid under that tag safe, too.

So with the Sox trailing 2-1, the Sox exploded in the 7th inning with singles by Hoye, Clemente, Murphy and Pane that allowed the Sox to take a 3-2 lead. DMart pitched a scoreless 7th for the save. Sox lead the Best of 3 series, 1-0.
