The Royals jumped out to a big 5-run inning with 5 straight 2-out hits in the 1st. Then, the Yankees chipped away at the lead. They got all the way back with 3 runs to tie things up in the bottom of the 7th. However, Felix Villalobos scored the winning run for the Royals in the top of the 8th on a big RBI single by Birk Jones. Birk (2 for 5, R, 2RBI) made the Yankees pay after an intentional walk to Greg Kosc (3 for 4, IBB, 3SB, R, 2RBI). Tom Spoth also had a multi-hit game as he went 2 for 4 with a deep triple in the 4th.
