Although the Yankees scored 7 quick runs in the 1st two innings, the Braves pecked away slowly. Backed by the bats of Mark Doucette (2-4, 2B, HR) and Chris Allen (2-4, 2B), the Braves battled back to get within 3 after 6 innings (7-4). Just as the Braves climbed back into it, a big 2-out, 2-run single in the 7th by Frank Kowalski (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) gave the Yanks all the breathing room they would need. Paul Reggio earned the win scattering 10 hits over 6 innings while striking out 6. Adam Frauton, AJ Bucciarelli, and Todd Steffanides each had two hits.
