In an exciting back and forth game, the Yankees edged out the Marlins and won in their last at bat for the 2nd straight game. The Yankees jumped out to an early lead by scoring 2 in the 4th inning on a Mike Moloney (1-4, 3R, 2 SB) triple and two doubles by Jeff Coveney (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI) and Sean Murphy (3-3, 2 2B, RBI). The Marlins answered in the bottom of the inning with a run scoring double by Paul Bracco and a passed ball. The Marlins then took the lead with 4 big runs in the 5th highlighted by a Patrick Allen double. In the 6th, the Yanks tied it up by scoring 4 runs on a 2-run gap homerun by Bucciarelli and a clutch 2-out, 2-run pinch hitting single by Greg Crossman. In the top of the 7th, the drama continued. After Bucciarelli knocked his 3rd hit of the game and Moloney reached on an error, the stage was set for Coveney who roped the game winning 2-run single to left center.
