The Marlins kicked off the 2006 campaign with a 7-1 victory over the Mariners thanks to the usual contributions from ace Neil Doherty and slugger Davin Wilfrid. The Chancellor cruised through four innings, walking none and striking out three while allowing only an unearned run. The Fish staked him to an early lead when Al Becker singled with two outs, Wilfrid followed with a triple to deep left, and Paul Bracco singled to bring home Wilfrid. The Fish made it comfortable when a Karl Cyr double, Becker sacrifice fly, and Wilfrid's second triple helped post a crooked number in the second. Anthony Leonelli and Kevin Brennan finished the job with three innings of shutout relief.
