WP BENNETT 1-0 LP Waters Franchise debut by Arlington Cardinals was a success. This was a hard fought battle and tight game the whole way. Despite the undermanned Cubs who only had 9 players showing up, one of whom had a cast on and then to lose another man due to a broken wrist sliding into second in the 4 th, this team built a 3-0 lead after 6. The Cardinals finally woke up in the late innings with 8th inning doubles from Grande and Messon followed up by the clutch game winning single by rookie Eric Doucette. Messon pitched 5 strong inninings striking out 4 with no walks and no earned runs. Then draftee Ray Bennett came in for the last 4 and shut the door allowing only one hit and picking up the win. Arlington lost 2 players to ejections but played a solid game as a team.
