Paul Aseltine made his 13th consecutive opening day start for the Pirates - and once again he delivered. After giving up 2 bleeding hits through the infield in the 2nd inning, he retired 15 in a row before issuing his only walk in the 7th. He also struck out 6 batters. He was aided by some picture perfect infield defense and allowed one ball hit into the outfield all day. In a day of quiet bats on both sides, Andy Burkett scored two Pirates runs while Brian Benulis scored one of his own when he came around to score from 2nd on a wild pitch.
