LEXINGTON -- In the first ever CABL "battle of pitchers wearing goggles" Mariner's rookie Nick Malatesta commanded the zone with 20/20 vision, striking out seven through six innings on his way to his first career win. Joseph Attanasio turned in a respectable outing for the Braves fresh off a broken hand, but was let down by his defense at some crucial times. The Mariners were able to capitalize on these mistakes, finally pulling away with two in the fifth inning. Game 2 was exciting from start to finish, with a handful of miraculous plays on defense turned in by the M's. The ball was handed to Jake Mingels in the seventh, who is virtually unhittable when given a four run lead. Mingels closed the door to give the Mariners their first win of the season.
