After a nightmare 1st inning for an unnamed Phillies pitcher resulted in 5 runs they battled back to force extras. The Braves had 2 opportunities at the plate to walk-off victorious. The first was spoiled in the Bot 9th by the tandem of Jeff Polinski and gold-glove 3B Shawn Walker on a relay to prevent a game winning sac fly. The Braves again had a runner on 3rd in the Bot 10th but this time decided to attempt to steal home while the pitcher was standing on the mound holding the ball. Bold strategy, Cotton... Didn't quite work out. The throw to home beat the runner by about 45 feet but that didn't stop him from pulling his best A-Rod impression and trying to break the play up in his best feminine fashion. The Phillies would strike in the top half of the next inning after a leadoff walk came around to score. Tony Maglione got the W with 2 shutout innings of relief after Robo-Arm Jay Skowronski threw 8.2 innings of top shelf relief.
