Steve Baldassari started the game off with a single to centerfield. Tad Beagley would then reach on a walk. Patrick Potter stepped up to the plate after Beagley drew the walk & hit an RBI single that scored Baldassari from second giving the Grays an early 1-0 lead. The Grays lead would hold until the bottom of the second, when the Padres would score four times. Valdez started off the bottom half of the second for the Padres with a single. Haden then drew a walk. Julio Gonzalez followed with a 2RBI triple down the left field line scoring Valdez & Haden. Gonzalez was then hit home by Frias who hit an RBI single. The Padres got the "W" behind strong pitching by Jose Pena who pitched a complete game & had 10 K's on the night. Bill Riggieri pitched well in the losing effort getting 12 K's of his own. Valdez & Frias had multi-hit nights for the Padres (Valdez 3 for 3, Frias 2 for 3) & Baldassari had one for the Grays (2 for 4).
