Ryan Platzbecker kept the momentum going in game 2. Platzbecker (2-0) settled down to fan 11 Irish players in five innings. Platzbecker retired the final seven batters of the game before giving the ball to Dana Erb. Erb hurled two scoreless innings, striking out three. The 14-2 win was the fourth consecutive victory for the Comets. California import Scott Kirby provided the offensive fireworks. Kirby blew the 4-2 game wide open with a majestic grand slam over the leftfield fence at Neumann University. Kirby became the first Comet since legend Joe Collins to hit a grand slam.
