The Reds took advantage of walks and a timely error to score three in the third inning before being blanked by Hubbard for the remainder of the game. The White Sox climbed back one run at a time led by Pollard and Clemente. The game was tied entering the top of the seventh when Naumowicz drove in Lembo with a go-ahead sac fly.
