The Cambridge Cantabs and South Shore Giants opened the 2017 season with a pitchers' duel. The Cantabs' Joe Perna and the Giants' Brad Presler kept the bats quiet for most of the day until Cambridge pushed across 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th for the decisive margin. The few fans in attendance got their proverbial money's worth with these teams in great battles at the plate and solid early-season defense. For the Cantabs, it was an all-around team effort offensively and defensively on opening day. Individual efforts of note included the aforementioned Joe Perna picking up the CG win with 6 K's, Dan Koh picking up his first MSBL RBI and a game-winner at that, and Corey Aldoupolis notching 2 hits and an RBI. Eric Bennett for the Giants went 1-3 with an RBI.
