The Red Dogs traveled to Canton to match up with their old foes the Royals to open the 2016 campaign. After a long, hard fought, back and forth game, the Red Dogs pulled out the 6-5 victory. Behind the arm of ace Jeff Tully and the bats of Rob Mershon, Chris Tully, and most notably Ryan Baldinelli, who went 3-5, both driving in and scoring 2 runs respectively. After a scare in the bottom of the 7th, Kenny Izbicki shut the door, striking out 2 Royals on his way to his first save, and the Red Dogs first victory.
