The Newton Royals opened up the season with a big win against the North Shore Giants behind a strong performance by Justin Chere who went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits with 3 Ks. The Royals offense provided plenty of support right from the start picking up 2 runs in the top of the first on back to back doubles by Gary Carmona and Scott Weber. The Royals bats then showed their patience in the 3rd inning walking 5 times en route to a 5 run inning. Eddie Lockhart pitched two scoreless frames to finish the game. The Royals take on the Waltham Nationals next Sunday at Gann Academy in Waltham.
